Beyond The Mainstreams took a fresh listen into “Peace of Mind” by Gayathri Krishnan, an EP(?), that balances clarity, calm, and quiet confidence across just three thoughtfully crafted tracks. We say “EP(?)” because we are not sure if this was intended as such or just a tight trilogy of great singles.

Peace of Mind

A dreamy opener with a midtempo sway. The instrumentation whispers rather than shouts, with soft keys and subtle electronic rims. Lyrically, it’s a self-therapeutic affirmation: a gentle reassurance wrapped in poetic simplicity. The vibe is soothing, making it perfect for a late-night reflection or Sunday morning chill. It doesn’t need big production to make a point, its strength lies in restraint and sincerity.

YDKB (You Don’t Know Better)

This track picks up pace, clocking in around 120 BPM, with a confident bounce. The beat is tighter, more rhythmic, and her vocal delivery shifts from dreamy to assertive. It reads like a sharp, self-assured letter to someone who judged her path too soon. Feminine vulnerability meets spirited punch and the song radiates smart swagger, balancing melodic charm with lyrical bite.

Made It

Here’s where she deviates into experimental territory. The tempo eases again, around 100 BPM, but the energy comes from interwoven vocal runs and nuanced rhythmic layering. The song feels like a bridge between neo‑soul and introspective R&B, infused with undercurrents of jazz. Thematically, it’s a reflective celebration and she’s acknowledging her journey and choosing fulfillment over external validation.

We feel the vibe of the EP(?) feels like a narrative arc, where “Peace of Mind” sets a calm, introspective tone. “YDKB” asserts independence with confident midtempo energy. “Made It” lands in mature reflection celebration without showboating.

Across the three tracks, Gayathri’s vocals stand out: warm, flexible, and emotionally open. Her production choices lean towards atmospheric airy pads, sparse percussion, which creates space for her voice and lyrics to resonate. Her songwriting excels in emotional honesty without overcomplication.

“Peace of Mind” is a tightly curated journey. It’s personal yet relatable, blending introspection with empowerment. Gayathri Krishnan shows versatility, moving from soothing self-care, to boundary-setting, to quiet confidence. The EP(?) leaves you with a sense of calm resolve and a readiness for what’s next.
